the parser is also completely different. instead of extending .NET’s regex parser, we build on top of the regex-syntax crate. it already handles the full standard syntax, unicode properties, and all the edge cases that took years to get right. on top of that, we add three extensions: & for intersection, ~(...) for complement, and _ for the universal wildcard - same syntax as the dotnet version.
